I wholeheartedly endorse item number 14. It's clear to see that Recuperative Care aligns with the most effective path toward combating homelessness in our community. This is an exciting and progressive step in the right direction.

Housing is a tremendous crisis California is suffering, the unaffordable prices are ridiculous, it is forcing families to live more than two families in a two bedroom apartment and also moving out of the state. The fact that families have to have at least 5K to be able to rent and move in to a one bedroom apartment is just unimaginable with the minimum wage Californian's are making. If the housing is more affordable the less homeless families/individuals be on the streets.

I'm Ian M. Seruelo of APALA San Diego. I am one of the volunteers assisting asylum seekers at the border. The use of ARPA to provide humanitarian assistance to those arriving at our southern border is a step in the right direction and it should be continued. However, it is infuriating that the County is using arbitrary rules to exclude other asylum seekers from accessing these resources. The Country should correct this unreasonable practice of selective humanity and serve all asylumseekers.

    • I urge the Board to support Item 14. San Diego County is facing an urgent crisis of homelessness, especially among those with underlying mental health conditions. It’s essential to create more facilities where individuals can be safely discharged from hospitals and get the medical support they need to recover. Recuperative care offers a lower-cost alternative to hospitals, jails, and even traditional homeless shelters, because it leverages new funding opportunities from Medi-Cal. We need this!

I fully support Item #14 and urge the board to pass this much-needed funding to expand recuperative care. Proven-effective programs like this are crucial in our overall response as a community to care for our most vulnerable neighbors. We cannot allow our mothers, brothers, sisters, grandmothers, and children to suffer on the streets - we can and we must do better. I am grateful our County would take a step in the right direction by passing this proposal.

I urge the Board to support Item 14. Recuperative care offers a lower-cost alternative to hospitals, jails, and even traditional homeless shelters, because it leverages new funding opportunities from Medi-Cal and it ensure that the money spent on acute hospitalization is leveraged for greater long term success for our those in need.

I support Item 14! Our county is facing the critical issue of homelessness, and this proposal creates a safe space for medically vulnerable individuals to receive services. It’s our shared responsibility to address the needs of those being released from hospitals with nowhere to go.

I urge the Board to support Item 14.

Our region is facing a crisis and our unhoused and housing insecure neighbors need places to be protected. As a person of faith, I am called to protect the most vulnerable amongst us. I urge the Board to protect those without homes, because they are among some of the most vulnerable members of our society, and need our protection and care.

    PLEASE SUPPORT ITEM 14!

I support the use of these funds to provide shelter and want to highlight needs at the airport, where lack of shelter is leading asylum seekers sleeping in the airport as they wait for their flights to sponsors. ARPA funds can and should be used for support. However, current funding to SBCS lacks accountability, per Dec 4 letter to the board. With fluctuating needs over the years, consider a permanent migrant help desk, staffed by a combo of staff and volunteers in order to meet changing needs.

I urge the board to support Item 14. It addresses a critical need that will be of great assistance not only to the people who need these services, but also to our entire community. Thank you.

I support using these funds to help migrants being released in SD. However, currently the county and its migrant center service provider (SBCS) are refusing to help migrants left at hospitals by Border Patrol. These migrants were taken to the hospital due to injury or health emergencies. They should be helped once released from the hospital as any other asylum seeking migrant released by the federal govt in San Diego. Instead injured migrants are left out on the streets without any assistance.

I fully support Supervisor Terra Lawson Reemer’s proposed use of the Evergreen Fund to do the following:
    Reduce hospital overcrowding
Tackle the mental health & drug crisis on our streets
Address shortfalls in key county positions
    Create more affordable housing
    Grow our green economy.
These are all critical problems that need to be solved for the improved health and welfare of all who call San Diego County home. Thank you.

I am in full support of the County using Evergreen funds in support of recuperative care work in the County. I am familiar with the Turk Center in Escondido and have first-hand experience witnessing the success of that facility and thus, would be in support of expanding these services as I consider them vital to the overall health of our community.

I support an expansion of recuperative care because it gets vulnerable people off the streets. In the next year, because of the passage of the CARES act, the need for recuperative care will only increase.
